No More Fetching Water
“...and I ask that we have a sponsor for a tank by FRIDAY” prayed Harriet, an eighth grade student at Githambo Primary in rural Kenya. It was Tuesday. Harriet knew it was a lot to ask for, but she prayed confidently, knowing her school was in great need.
Despite Harriet’s bold prayer, Friday came and went without a sponsor - so it seemed. About two weeks after Harriet’s prayer, as Jenni (our CDK Director) returned to work, she was handed an envelope. She opened it up to find a check for $13,500 earmarked for a well - exactly what Harriet had prayed for! And to her surprise, Jenni saw that this well’s sponsor had written the check BEFORE Harriet had even prayed! Harriet hadn’t been asking God to do something new for her school - she had been asking Him to do something He had already done!
The construction of the tank was soon underway and later commissioned on March 19th, 2019, serving approximately 385 students and teachers. As we talked with Harriet about this tank, we found that it had been a timely answer to her prayers in more ways than one. In addition to praying for the sponsor to be found by Friday, Harriet had been praying for over two years (since a visit from our Kenya Director “Tank Man”) that her school would have a tank by the time she was in eighth grade. For Harriet and the hundreds of others in attendance, this commissioning was a happy one as they celebrated clean water and the time-specific answer to her prayers.
