Parker Scheuermann
Can Do Kids International Vice President
Parker Scheuermann has a long history of leadership in the supply chain industry. After completing his MBA in Entrepreneurship from the University of Illinois, he has held consulting positions with Deloitte and Caterpillar respectively before launching his own Consulting Firm in 2009. At his current firm, Zero Waste Logistics, he and his team play active advising roles for C-suite executives to drive business results. As Vice President of Can Do Kids, Parker is passionate about leveraging his business connections to financially enable the ministry of Can Do Kids. Parker has also served as a pilot program leader for Can Do Kids and Sunday School teacher at his local church. Parker and his wife Ilona have five children and live in Central Illinois.
Cyndy Baumgardner
Can Do Kids International Board Secretary/Treasurer
Cyndy Baumgardner, retired from her professorship at Illinois State University, has been involved in children’s ministry most of her life. Her passion is receiving and sharing God's love. Cyndy developed and led her church’s first children’s outreach, which paved the way for CDK’s launch in 2007. Cyndy also helped lead CDK’s first urban club. There she wrote and piloted a curriculum designed for children with very limited Bible knowledge, which is now available through CDK. Cyndy has also volunteered with CDK in Kenya. She currently leads the “Glory of the Gospel” Galatians study which she co-edited with Kingdom Seekers Ministries. Cyndy taught math for 35 years and holds a BS from Taylor University and an MS from the University of Illinois at Chicago. Cyndy lives on the same Illinois farm where she was raised.
Rochelle Scheuermann
Rochelle Scheuermann, an ordained minister, has been active in vocational and lay ministry for more than 20 years and holds an MDiv (AGTS) and a PhD in Intercultural Studies (Trinity Evangelical Divinity School). She is currently Associate Professor of Evangelism & Leadership at Wheaton College, where she also serves as Program Director of the Doctor of Ministry and assistant Dean of Ministry and Evangelism. Rochelle’s research interests include theology of mission, the intersection of preaching and culture and disability and the church. In 2022, Rochellle received a Knox Fellowship Award for Research in Evangelism for her article "Apologetics and Disability: Reframing Our Response to the Question of Suffering." Together with her husband Barrett, they have two adopted children and reside in the Chicago area.
Lori Slightom
Lori Slightom has maintained a 30+ year career at State Farm with the current position of Data Analyst. Outside of her day-job, Lori is active in ministry and volunteer opportunities. She has served as the Sunday School Superintendent at her church, FW Friends Learn-it Lady, and Can Do Kids Club substitute, working with children ages 2 - fourth grade. With two children of her own, and one of them with Prader-Willy Syndrome, Lori has developed a heart for the special needs community. In her area, she serves on the Administrative Staff for the Penguin Project and volunteers at the seedling Theater. She has also begun leadership training for the Illinois Partners in Policy Making. Lori uses her children’s ministry experience and deep understanding about the special needs community to help guide the Board at CDK.
Richard Scheuermann
Richard Scheuermann began his life-long passion for children’s ministry in the 1960s. Richard has served in a wide variety of children’s ministry positions since then, including Children’s Leader for Bible Study Fellowship, Awana Director, children’s church leader and co-founder of Can Do Kids Clubs. Richard has been a key part of expanding Can Do Kids into Kenya, Ukraine and the Philippines. Together with his wife Jeannette, Richard has five children, fourteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren of his own. In addition to his experience with children’s ministry, Richard has spent 50+ years in Logistics Management, helping his son Parker to found Zero-Waste Logistics. Richard uses his life-long business expertise and ministry connections to support Can Do Kids International.
RYAN McDONALD
Ryan McDonald was born to missionaries in Western Papua, Indonesia and has lived most of his life on the foreign mission field. He has short-term experience in more than 20 countries and has led several trips, including Can Do Kids Impact Teams to Kenya. Ryan holds a BS in Intercultural Studies and a MA in Organizational Leadership from Crown College. He is also ordained with the Christian and Missionary Alliance denomination. Ryan operates his own carpentry business and resides in rural Minnesota. As a father of three biological and four foster kids, Ryan has a heart for children. He is burdened for vulnerable children and poverty stricken communities around the world and is passionate about helping believers mature in Christ.
